A Big Dream In A Small Town
From Mix's Trading Post
Mix's Trading Post was established in 1989 by Joyce and Bill Mix. Their story begins with a dream. They dreamed of owning a retail store where customers would have "a memorable experience" during their visit. The family purchased a residential home on Clark Street in Utica and converted it to a retail store 30 years ago. Attending trade shows throughout the United States, Bill and Joyce found interesting and unique items to stock their retail store. Bill and Joyce retired in 2015, passing the business reigns onto their son, Tracy Mix.
To Jamie's Outpost
Tracy and his wife Jamie have made very ambitious changes to Mix's Trading Post in the past few years, including adding a 3000 square foot full-service bar that they named Jamie's Outpost and a 4000 square foot wooden deck. The deck features custom whiskey barrel tables, plenty of comfortable bar stools, a bar area, and for those chilly evenings: patio heaters and fire pits! The deck is completely covered and certainly an inviting space to relax and enjoy company with friends.
With the addition of the Outpost Grill and weekly live entertainment, Jamie's Outpost has quickly become one of Utica's favorite bar and grill.
We strongly believe in the mantra "Work hard, play harder". Jamie's Outpost takes pride in being one of the top entertainment venues in the Starved Rock and Illinois Valley area. Every weekend you can enjoy live music provided by artists of all genres from around the country. In addition to bringing in national talent the Illinois Valley area is home to a vibrant music scene and we feature a variety of talented local artists.
